もぐもぐ Bento… How can you not love these!

Bento are one of my favorite things from Japan. With a variety of food in each box and a little bit of かわいい (kawaii), how could you reject such an awesome meal! For anyone that doesn’t know what bento is, it’s a lunch box traditionally containing rice, fish or meat, and steamed or pickled vegetables. Women like to make cute bentos for their kids and boyfriend/husband. Now my goal is just to make a bento half as good as these for my fiancé.

スタイル Mori Girl/Dolly Kei

One of my favorite styles is a mix between mori girl and dolly kei!

For those of you that don’t know what mori girl is,

“Mori girl is a Japanese street fashion that looks woodsy and natural. A mori girl dresses in earthy colors and loose dresses and layers. She enjoys wearing vintage and handmade pieces that make her look like she lives in a forest, hence the name– “mori” means “forest” in Japanese.”

“Some typical characteristics of mori girl fashion are:
~ loose clothes
~ vintage or handmade items
~ natural and earthy colors
~ everything soft and comfortable
~ layering
~ looking like part of the forest
~ lots of knit-wear, crochet, and fur”

For those of you that don’t know what dolly kei is,

“Dolly kei, also known as “dolly style” or “antique doll” fashion, is a Japanese style that looks slightly creepy and antique. Wearers of the fashion choose vintage clothes and layer them to achieve this striking look.

A few common elements of dolly kei are:
~ paisley
~ tapestry
~ embroidery
~ tights, boots, and platform sandals
~ layering
~ mixing patterns and colors
~ ethnic-looking pieces
~ vintage clothing
~ fur accessories
~ tassels and shawls with fringe
~ florals
~ morbidity and mysticism
~ defined waist”
