So the new Sailor moon will be airing on Niconico’s website this July subbed in 10 languages. Here is the first image revealed of the new Sailor Moon. Looks more like the manga, don’t you think?

Last night a friend on Facebook recommended this extremely cute 10 minute animated short from Japanese animator Tazawa Ushio. I instantly fell in love with cute character that looks like a super cute stuffed daruma doll. He gets lost from the little girl who played with him as a child and travels the world for her.

A few weeks ago I watched this awesome documentary called Jiro Dreams of Sushi. It was so inspiring how this 85 year old man, Jiro Ono, works every day making amazing sushi. All he serves is sushi in his 10 seat restaurant in a Tokyo subway station. He says in the movie that he really does dream of making sushi at night. I think this is what keeps him living, knowing he has such a love for something that he has perfected. If you like something to inspire you I highly recommend watching this documentary. When you are done watching you will feel the need to be as dedicated as he is to whatever your craft may be.

So I came across this a while ago and had it saved in my photos only to finally post it up. This really brought me back to my childhood days of waking up early enough to watch this before school and then later rushing to the tv after school to watch it again. Oh how I’m so glad with the 5 year old that I was to have fell in love with Sailor Moon. Who knew it would open up my love of Japan later down the road when the Internet came around.

So I stumbled across this movie on ondemand and of course it caught my attention since I love maiko. It was released in 2007 and stars actor Sadao Abe. It’s a funny plot of how he loves maiko and dreams of one day getting the chance to spend time with them, which he does, but quite a few unfortunate events seem to stop him at first. The story also unfolds into a competition with a rival who has more money to spend on maiko then him, so what’s he do? Finds new ways to make more money of course. Can’t forget the girlfriend he dumps because she’s not from Kyoto, that part gets interesting in the story too.
It’s an extremely funny movie. If you like watching movies in Japanese (of course there’s subtitles) give it a go! I’m sure you’ll love it! Let me know what you think of the movie!
